I have a web page on my PC that instead of a spreadsheet, I use an HTML page to keep track of my "stuff" and today my entire /images folder disappeared. My drive is on whenever my machine is up connected via a micro USB high speed data cable and had not had power interrupted.

Tonight I went to access an image in my .html file and all the images were gone because the folder was gone. Just gone. I did not have a power glitch nor a drive removal without unmounting and fsck as well as the disks application showed no drive errors.

The only thing changed in my system this week I let update manager update systemd, cups and rsync.

Luckily I have several backup memory sticks and it was an easy matter to drag a backup folder to where it belonged. Now I'm thinking a spreadsheet with embedded images may have been a better idea? But then I couldn't access my info anywhere but on a system that had an office suite.

Yes, on a Seagate expansion+ 1tb USB drive.
show
Code:
sudo dmesg
result if you have not rebooted since noticing lost files.
