Do i need to repair mint after a few hard shut-downs?

I suppose I just select a TS date and click "restore" and follow the prompts. Hopefully it is not too involved. -BA
Yes, that is the starting point.

Do not change any of the settings/pages that timehsift puts up......just allow it to do its thing
It will appear at times to be not doing anything. just wait...and the 'next' button at the bottom of the page will appear/become highlighted.
Do not interrupt it.
The screen will eventually turn black and a whole stack of 'garble' will roll down the screen. Be patient.

After a few minutes...it will slow down...and move much slower.....you will see on screen that it is about to reboot......just sit and watch.....it will reboot all on its own. No input from you is necessary.

After it has rebooted, you will bakc the date you selected.

Time travel in your pc room !

when all that has finished, look for the Update shield in the system tray....near the clock....if there is a red dot on the shield, that means there are updates. Click on the shield to open it and install all the updates. (more patience)

When it has finished, reboot.

THANKS GUYS. With the above information I should be OK from here on. At the moment the system is being good so I will give it another chance or two to see if I really need to do anything. I remember reading (some years ago) that a hard restart of Linux could cause major issues but I think that was in reference to a dual boot with Windows and it was just one non-expert's advice. This Mint installation is on a separate SSD and if I need to boot Windows I swap it out. -BA

Well, it's being good so I won't worry any more. I have this thread with it's info to go to if it happens again. Thanks a lot guys. -BA

Brian, if it works fine for a few days and reboots, when you are sure this is solved, you can mark it as such by going to your first post, and do as follows

Near bottom left of the post click Edit - (No Prefix) - Solved
