Here in Ireland it doesn't work.

Still trying to make my mind up (despite the massive cost of a dysfunctional public system) whether that's a good thing or not.

It's on the positive side I suspect....

A family member was complaining bitterly about how, here in the U.S., with a two party government system, the two sides are always bickering and "neither side can get anything done". I just asked, "Can you imagine the horror if either side -could- get anything done?"

We're probably straying too close to "politics", although we might wish we could claim it was just "humor".

Yeah, you're getting close to that point. It being humorous is not a justification.

For better or worse, it sure does make discussing some things really difficult. There are times and issues where I think we could all remain civil, but it's best to just exclude the whole topic rather than try to pick our way around the edges. Eventually, someone's going to get butthurt and go on a rant. LOL I've also seen people rage quit when I enforce those rules. It's okay. I intentionally have a short memory and I don't lose any sleep over it.
