I am able to login to my Rocky 9 desktop system via XRDP from my Debian 12 system - however, when attempting to check the settings on the device, I keep getting a popup box asking for authentication. Inputting my normal (non-root) login password just results in the message popping back up, asking me to re-authenticate. Using my root password is rejected outright with an error message - so it is accepting the regular password. Once I receive that screen, I cannot close it by clicking "Cancel" (the message then just reappears), or get around it by disconnecting/reconnecting via a new session - I have to reboot the system, physically login to the device, then log back out in order to regain remote access again:
Even though I no longer have the ability to RDP into the device, I can still access the device via SSH, SFTP, etc.
Has anyone run into this issue - and, if so, what did you use to deal with that?
