50 years since the landing on the Moon, folks!

The boys landed on the 19th, then stepped out on the 20th.

Congratulations to all whom were involved.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

The moonlanding was the greatest fakery ever performed on mankind! Yes, you could remember it as if was yesterday (if you where alive back then, that is), but that does not change the fact that it was a fakery played on all generations present at that time and future ones too, until sometime in the future where the fake is admitted!

A Belated welcome to linux.org, @mrvic :)

Buzz Aldrin is 89 not out, so I believe, perhaps he will say something at his deathbed, which I hope is still some way off.

Someone said, only recently

Never declare even your most stupid ideas as stupid and discard them without researching them!
I guess you have done the research for both sides?

Cheers

That was part of my 7th birthday party, a watch party and testing on my new telescope.

The only first most important portion of the day is I get Cake and Ice Cream.

It is a most amazing thing to this day .......... not that man figured out how to leave earth or even that he figured out how to get back. But more in how those things seemed just out of reach all most like an impossibility that man could figure it out and then do it successfully many, many more times. It not just changed the course of America at the time and for the rest of time, but changed the whole world and what we knew we could do now. We who were able to watch not just take part in it but to simply experience it as a spectator have been blessed to witness some of mankind's greatest achievements.

Remember the dreamers and the risk takers

Me too... I never wish death to anybody! No matter how evil!

Hey! You are talking to a reformed NASA fanboy! I would dream of all their fables of interplanetary journeys among the gods (aren't all the supposed planets all called after the Greek or Roman gods?)... It's only two years ago that my eyes where opened. Before, I was among those liar's most stern defenders! It wasn't easy to convince me of the fact that they are nothing but liars.

Lately, I have been dreaming on taking a journey into orbit and then farther on on the space elevator :D!

NASA didn't lose them, they taped over them with subsequent missions.

Nothing sinister, just stupid.

And I was just going to leave well enough alone.
I thought how do we lose what never happened, for when it has never taken place ........
how does one simply misplace what did not occur ? Odd very Odd indeed ..... most perplexing.

That begs the question: Who, in their right mind, would tape over such historic footage, unless there was a reason to "lose" it?

Somebody from my family - would do stupid stuff like that, my cousin taped over the only VHS of his wedding. Boy was his wife - her parents - and his parents pissed off about that, the mothers were livid when they found out he taped porn over the only copy of the wedding video. His dad was mad as hell at him for a very long time, his Dad caught so much hell over it - only your son " your son " would be so damn dumb to do such a stupid stunt.

For him it was an awe doo doo / his dad paid dearly for his son ding dong move.
Took dad a whole lot of butt kissing to get back to the bedroom again.
Nothing that a vacation and a few diamonds did not fix.

...and meanwhile at the Moon 50 years ago, the lunar module Eagle has blasted off, docked with Columbia, Armstrong and Aldrin have rejoined Michael Collins, and they have broken orbit and are headed back for Planet Earth.

Before the anniversary of their touchdown in the Pacific, I will have some more information for you, which I find interesting reading, with regard to refuting the conspiracy theory, and I hope you find it likewise?

Cheers all
