with over 500 distributions of Linux, some specialised, your best bet is to follow the link given by @KGIII, but be aware this is for installing Linux distributions with graphical installation interface only, there are many distributions, so designed that, to install and use them you must already be familiar with the way Linux works and how to find and install the drivers needed, and be totally competent in using the terminal to do so.
For further advice, we need to know the make and full model of tour computer and the distribution you are thinking of.
