I switched to Linux mint for over a week now and I've been enjoying it.

Recently I just turned on Time shift to do snapshots on my PC. I mistakenly put its directory in the hard drive where my OS is. I tried to delete it but it told me "Permission denied"
the reason why im trying to delete it is because it ate up all of the space in that hard drive.

How do I delete it?

You need to use the Timeshift interface to delete the snapshot.

All snapshots are listed in the Timeshift interface, it probably has a different name than you expect or was it a manual snapshot? Share a screenshot of your Timeshift interface? The command you tried will work, but you need to add "sudo" in front of it.

Its fine now i'm no longer getting the notification of my hard drive being full.
Though it didn't appear on the interface at all. I assume it was because my driver was full already and it didn't register so it didn't appear in the interface of the app.
I just need clarification what does "sudo" do for terminal operations?

If you click on Menu...type in Timeshift...click on it...a window will open looking like the below.

The snapshot levels and the 2025-12-274 etc etc will not be there either

click on Settings (the arrow points at it.

In settings, .....
Rsync
(snapshot type)
Location: on an external drive....(the size depends on that else you wish to store there. You need at least 200gb for Timeshift....depending on all sorts of factors)
Schedule: your choice....depending on how much the pc does.....mine is used from 4am to 8pm every day....so I keep 1 monthly, 1 weekly, 2 daily, and 1 Boot
Users: I include ALL file. I see no sense in not doing this. I have plenty od disk space
Filters....Plus (+) marks beside /root and /home

That will get you started.

More questions, just ask.

EDIT TO ADD : To delete snapshots, open that same window, click once on a snapshot to highlight it.....then click on Delete (up the top)....Just leave it alone to do its thing....DO NOT interrupt it.
