Best Linux for 32 bits laptop

xz (XZ Utils) 5.2.2
liblzma 5.2.2

i dont see why me posting progress and question on my fork is wrong? that doesnt hurt anyone unless they downlaod and use it irresponsibly
xz utils was an example of bad software needing updates.

Nothing wrong with a fork, however if you're not maintaining/updating all the software in the distribution used as a fork, it's not a good idea to use it online, so that's why several people said not to advertise it. But maybe you are making this fork for a personal learning project and didn't have a goal to share it with other people as a distribution. Most people here say things with a good intent, sometimes it doesn't come over that way because text only communication makes things more difficult including language barriers.

If you mean with internal that you keep it for yourself personally then yes. Or if you mean something else than please explain what you mean exactly with that?

From my experience on Reddit, it's a toxic place even on Linux sub-reddits.

That is a red herring. Being disingenuous will not get you very far.

The comment that got this particular exchange started was not you posting progress or asking questions. The comment that got this started was you advocating the idea that the OP should use a distro that is no longer safe to use.

That is what was being remarked upon by my colleague. (And you know this.)

depends on the hardware. if your running 32 bit from 2018. Mint 19. 1998-2008? linux from scratch or arch. i have a i386 and mint 19 runs good.

(Emphasis mine, grammar errors yours.)

Agree totally with the above ^^^^.

@tator just accept what you have been informed on, regarding obsolete, unsupported distros, and move on.

Good luck with your fork.

Just for (laughs?) I installed two Slackware VMs. Both are Slackware 15.0, one is 64bit, the other is 32bit.

I started out on slackware back in early 94, but it's changed a lot since then.
Been a while since I used the old gunzip/tar package manager. I guess we are spoiled these day,
but it's kind of fun to get to old roots days.
:)
