The issue started this morning when starting up FFXIV. After getting into the game the every mouse click would cause the screen to flicker white. I booted to my nobara install and the issue wasn't there. Happy to troubleshoot this, but was unable to find a solution after searching online.

Here is my build, any help is appreciated.

From my searching online I found that Nobara (based on Fedora) was built with a modified KDE DE.
Additionally the kernel has a custom patch.

I suspect that your Catchy OS (based on Arch Linux) doesn't have the libraries and modification to the KDE DE like Nobara does..... thus causing the mouse and screen to flash. This kind of performance issue that you showed in the video looks to me like a driver issue. Nividia/AMD or Wayland issue?

Perhaps the refresh rate on the monitor the hertz set too high?
Changing the refresh rate fixed it for some users.

Fall back to an older kernel?

Maybe our moderator @f33dm3bits may know how to fix this.

Thank you for your reply!

It's possible, but since I only noticed it after a fresh install, it wasn't something that was custom from me.

I did change this around quite a bit, but the only thing that seemed to change it was when I adjusted the games resolution to something that was smaller. (not exactly playable but still)

I'll have to read up on how to do that. Still very new to linux, but willing to mess around and try stuff.

They were kind enough to reach out and provide some tips on my double GPU settings, but after changing it, there was no change.

I'm going to try the kernel first. CachyOS is updated rather quickly compared to Nobara/Bazzite and I expect that is because it is an arch distro. Using it has been a lot of fun, and using Nobara has been great as well. Even through all the little troubles and multiple reinstalls that I have done, I'm still very happy to be on this side.

Ok! I did a rollback to a previous sanpshot and once I booted back up, the flickering was gone! Really happy to see that. Now I know at least what to expect when something like that happens and what I can do. Thanks!

Do you have vulkan-radeon installed? How are you running the game through Steam or through another way? I did come across this comment on ProtonDB which sounds a lot like your issue, someone else was having this same issue.
Short screen flicker whenever I click a mouse button. Didn't happen with my previous GPU (NVidia RTX 3070).
I did come across this.
Maybe try limiting your refresh rate in game to 60? Also if you have variable refresh rate enabled, try disabling it?

Are you running the game display mode "full-screen" or "windowed-borderless", if in the latter try switching it to "full-screen".

Also another thing you can try is installing "mesa-git" CachyOS has that as a package in the repos. See if you get the flickering issue with that as well or not?

That seems like it! I'll have to double check on vulcan radeon, but I'm pretty sure it loads in as part of the "gaming packages".
I'm launching it with steam but it does run the launcher.

I did try every combination of display resolution/refresh rate/vrr that i could try, but nothing helped.

I haven't tried to look at this yet, but I'll check it out too.

Glad to hear that rolling back from kernel 6.18 to 6.12 made the difference.
