Android is not good
Google officially announced that the Android operating system will no longer be open source.
Because it uses a virtual machine mechanism, especially in terms of resource consumption, and it's a closed system, not true Linux. Intelligence agencies have built-in surveillance capabilities that can transmit data back to the US for war and assassination purposes. Android is filthy, stained with blood, and iOS isn't much better.

It can support watches, TVs, phones, and Linux systems. I hope the open-source community will continue to choose open-source mobile systems based on existing Tizen/webOS/Sailfish OS/Ubuntu Touch systems. So, which has more potential? Choose one and build it into a true Linux.

Allow the installation of third-party applications,

Establish a unified national alliance, a unified app store review (prohibit auto-start/associated wake-up/background running),

Support multiple application package formats,

Stable, fast, energy-efficient, lightweight, and supports artificial intelligence.

Applications: Support more development languages/QML/JS/C++/HTML5/C/Java/Go

CPU: Support ARM64/x86_6/RISC-V

A true Linux system; mobile applications should also support desktop applications.

It doesn't use the Android virtual machine mechanism; all applications are natively recompiled.

To achieve this, the driver layer may not be open source.

It directly replicates the iOS UI design.

The system must be made freely available to all phone manufacturers, must always remain open, neutral, and free from government control, and must reject built-in eavesdropping and data transfer capabilities.

Phone hardware capable of running Android should be able to easily install this new Linux-based mobile operating system. Phone manufacturers should strive to achieve this.

Lessons learned:

Why did Windows succeed? Because it could be installed on any computer, so it succeeded.

Android followed this path, so it succeeded.

Why did Windows Phone fail? Why did copycat operating systems fail? Because they all broke away from the closed system of iOS, but ended up on a dead end.

It supports multiple programming languages, allowing more developers to more easily develop and port applications, gradually solving the application ecosystem problem and surpassing Android. More importantly, it targeted the Chinese market, followed by India, South Korea, Japan, Africa, Europe, and finally the US market.

This is an international site and as such the forum language is English, Please make all post in English [or American English is fine], if you do not feel proficient in English then please translate your post first

Tizen/webos/but Sailfish OS/Ubuntu Touch, there are many of these systems, so your energy should be scattered and some should be abandoned. Choose an open source and promising one, merge it, and then fully port the app to build an app ecosystem,

I remember this from another thread. It looks interesting. I have an android phone lying around. Gonna try it out and see if I can install it on that phone.

This is still Android, you know. That annoying virtual machine mechanism...

Yeah but without GAPPS, so a good alternative for privacy for those coming across this topic that care about that point. I've seen some Linux alternatives over the years but none of them seem to have become a big enough success for them to be worth using.

This is based on Ubuntu.

It's been a while since I have look at Linux OS for mobile phones, but having looked again the best option would probably be to get a phone that is well supported.

I am the first person to say android is an abomination. Many of you may not have heard but by end of 2026 google is implementing a policy that will prevent you from installing 3rd party apps on android unless the developer has paid google for an account to do so. You may not think this is a big deal until you think about it and realize that google is taking away your choice to install apps that they do not approve. This will include sideloading and loading of apps you may have developed yourself will now be subject to this and not able to install them without google approval.

It is long overdue for a true open source solution to mobile devices. When I spend $1000 USD for a phone I expect I should be able to do whatever I want with it. I should not have to get Google's approval first for anything. Long overdue for Linus Torvalds to revoke permission for google to use his kernel.

To all a quick reminder of our posting terms.. This could get a bit close to the edge.

my appologies I tried to keep on this side of edge but wanted to make sure people knew what was coming down the line and why the open source solution is so important.

Please don't take it the wrong way, as we know these topics can get heated, so I threw a bucket of cold water over it to remind all [participants]

Well ended up failing with this. Forgot I had factory reset my phone and I forgot my password which you need even with a factory reset. Would be great if someone could try out this OS to see how flexible it is.

I noth thought other languages noth supported. Noth read your original post; if the language posted on this site by whom wrote isn't in the translation capabilities, it's either removed or noth installed. If it no[th] your jib, why noth any nigh to translate, or ask whom post to translate/rephrase? Discrimination expreed/expressed request of writing in American English; this nation is a melding/melting pot - all inclusive; otherwise, your multiple nationalities/ethnities meaneth less than nothing; includes where the words & letters we speak derived from - historical premise noth excluded. BrickWizard's response of translation hurts the company; with their status, & its length of observation, it also says this community condones discriminations & illegal expectations/requirements. The bug reports generated by the devices aren't required to be writ in any English language. I would've kept the original & posted a "better understood" version. God(s) bless/speed!! If thus true, they'll hath to remove all markers of it being identified as; looking at the boot log, it mentions the distribution/flavor it be of - if it isn't Arch, it's another A Linux. They're violating the open source & freeware licenses. Who noth able to modify Android like other Linux OSs? Only certain access permissions hath access to the terminal & can install other softwares. Several years ago, noth only noth existent (except installing directly from Google's store), disallowed to install APKs. Many of us are aware our "mobile" (many forget a laptop beth mobile) devices are capable of server capacities. As yi also stated; Apple isn't that far from what Google's doing (at least OS premise). Refraining from reliabilities of datum networks.... 3G & noth much earlier, many devices could hath multiple apps open in the background & noth close/crash either; cycle through each & noth lose any progress - regardless of 4G & current, & the hardware, barely any app can sit in the background for several milliseconds without crashing/closing.... Other computers, obviously, hath capabilities of several apps open, sized about the screen, interacted betwixt & intertwixed with hardly unnecessarily stressing your device. Ubuntu had several issues, including aft public release, with their phone/tablet versions (nigh a more stable version, they (& a [group of] programmer(s)) I'm unaware of publicly released an OS installable for your vehicle's computer). I'm also having a hard time attempting to understand how a VM can operate as an OS running an OS without being installed in such environment.... That'd remove the virtual of?? Am aware of small environments that essentially are programs utilizing the systems hardwares with an UI (such as disk wipers/scrubbers). That noth beth a VM? If of resource consumption - redundancies to how our devices are restricted from the user/owner using maybe 5% of the device’s capabilities. More to follow.
