Will my PC Coumputer build support fedora?

  1. Hello guys, I am new on this forum and I would love if someone helped me!
    I would like to ask if my pc computer build run immutable Fedora 38 Kinoite or the UblueOS (bluefin-dx nvidia edition).
    I am mostly worried about the CPU as its a bussiness CPU and the GPU as I heard some horror stories about NVIDIA on Linux.
    These are my pc compouter components:

A dodeca core CPU with 2 threads per core, This is supported by the Linux Kernel [but you may need the latest version]
on board graphics should also be supported

I am unaware if drivers are available as yet, perhaps another member may know, if not I will do some research on my tomorrow

the rest is fairly bog-standard

It doesn't look like there is a driver yet available for your graphics card. It would be listed here. You might be able to find one at ASUS download center searching for the model number here. Best of Luck
 
Good morning, some companies do not make it easy for you, I have just read pages of info on this card, and on the next to last page found this, what does it mean...as at 4 days ago there were only Windows drivers available for this card, [it usually takes 6-9 months for Linux drivers to be back engineered]

Okay, thank you very much! I tought that I could just enable RPM-Fusion and install nvidia drivers or use the bluefin-dx nvidia image from here: https://github.com/ublue-os/bluefin . Or If I went with distro such as Pop!OS that has nvidia version with drivers prebaked in it. Wouldn't that work? And if not why?
 
Nvida have always been problematic,

You can give it a try, but I would not expect it to work as this card is so new.
the distribution with the widest collection of latest drivers is [and easier to install than pop]

Oh, okay. Thanks. What if I went with the 7900xtx. There shouldn't be any problems If I go with the latest kernel right? I choose this 7900xtx: Power Color Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil Limited Edition 24GB GDDR6 (RX 7900 XTX 24G-E/OC/LIMITED) (https://www.powercolor.com/product?id=1669257338)
The kernel version of Ublue OS is 6.3.8-200.fc38.x86_64 . I checked it 26.6.2023. But I think taht it should be 6.4 by now.

Fedora tends to run newer versions of kernels, libraries and software than most other distros.
There are some other distro's like Arch that even a little ahead of Fedora. But the point here being,
if you think your CPU and GPU are too new for Linux, then run one of the distro's that use newer
software releases.

Radeon and nVidia used to be difficult on Lunux, maybe it still is on some distros, I don't know.
But I personally haven't had any trouble with either of these in years.
