Just a few days ago, I checked on Cinnamon 22.2. It is said that there are some bugs with 22.2 . I am a newbie and unable to handle any bug and any issue of the operating system. Yet, there are voices saying the users should upgrade to 22.2. Would like to hear advices.
Thanks.

welcome fellow newbie.
Whenever you fell the need to. "An user should use." That's what my local dealer ways says.
I think you would be safe and if any trouble appears call for help and the magic of this forum will act.

G'day DiaNobb, Welcome to Linux org

There are those among us who wait and wait until they think the 'bugs' are gone, and then they upgrade.

I have been running 22.2 since it was released, and am truly not aware of any bugs. Maybe there have been a few but I am not aware of them, and I use 22.2 all day, every day.

Linux Mint has to be one of the most reliable distros around. Upgrade it and if you have any troubles we will fix them.

Now, would be my answer though you do not have to rush. I found 22.2 is a very good release.

Yes. I know people are kind and willing to help. The problem with me as a newbie is that I don't even know how to ask for help, which means that I might not know what the problem is if a bug interrupts the operating system.

Started learning Linus Mint in 2023. Started with Xfce and changed to Cinnamon 22.1 about a year ago. Like Cinnamon very much. So, I did not upgrade Windows to 11. Will not use Windows anymore.
I am using Windows 10 now, basically for running Photoshop for post processing my photographs. For everything else, I rely on Cinnamon 22.1.
There are 2 more PCs laying idle in my study. Thinking to use a remote control software for operating 2 PCs at the same time, one for processing photos in Photoshop and Windows 10, the other running Cinnamon 22.2 for everything else. It is due to this project, I feel uneasy with a new version of Cinnamon, if not sue whether bugs are present within that new distro.

Trust me. they are going to find a way to help you. I want to learn so much that I would broke a OS just to learn how to fix your problem. Just don't be root, be a sudoer and everything is going to be fine.

It's not necessary to upgrade to 22.2...it's an option. The only time I upgraded was Mint Cinnamon 18.1 to 18.2 years ago and things stopped working...so never again.

Mint 22.1 is supported till 2029...which means you get all updates especially security updates for 5 years.

I never upgrade...I do a clean install about a few months before support ends and I always test the new version in Virtualbox or on a spare SSD because a new version could have a few bugs.
Hope this helps.

As if that's something new, I just now googled for "linux mint releases with bugs" and noticed releases frequently ship with some bugs that affect normal use.

There were few threads here on forums users trying to reach for help with bugs in the past.

When a new release ships there shouldn't be any question about whether to upgrade or not.
Bugs are normal thing, however bugs that prevent you from installing or using (breaking bugs) shouldn't be so frequent and shouldn't be normalized and considered a standard.
