What distro should I use?

Hello! I'm new to linux and want to switch due to being sick of Microsoft's nonsense. I have a Walmart HP (it doesn't have an official name) that has 118GB (though the box says 129 -_-) of space and 4GB of RAM. What distro should I use?

It's a tricky question we put to new users, of course no one wants to have old drivers problems and having their GPU semi-functional, but do they want a crash when they transfer large files to their external drive. Somehow in Linux you either have the one or the other...

So do you play games? what you intend to do with that computer?

10gb is probably reserved for some windows operations, on the manufacturer's plate will be the model number [quite long] let me know that and i will check it out,

Okay, that makes sense . Is the manufactuer's plate the same as the product ID?

I do play games though nothing too intense due to the RAM size. I intend to use the laptop to balance gaming with work.

if it's an HP, the serial number is typically located on either the rear plate (laptop) or on a sticker on the top/side/bottom (desktop) - once you have the SN, plug it in here to get the model number --> https://support.hp.com/us-en/check-warranty then getting detailed specs is easy once you have the model number (so you can see if you have a 32-bit cpu or a 64-bit cpu as that will indicate which linux distributions you can run on that hardware).

That's most likely GB vs GiB, but not quite because 129 GiB is 120 GB (not 118 GB)
