Hi folks ! ..... I'm a frequent reader , but an infrequent poster .

Warpinator - designed to send and receive files across a local network .
A great cross-platform tool , which comes pre-installed on Mint since version 20 , and it's now available
for other distros as a flatpak .

Is anyone here using it ?
And in particular , has anybody got it to work on a Raspberry Pi ?
I'm currently trying it on a Pi3 ( running Bullseye ) but constantly failing , despite being a long-time Linux / RPi user .

Any hints or feedback would be much appreciated !

For reference -
Other platforms (unofficial):
Android: https://github.com/slowscript/warpinator-android
iOS: https://github.com/williamMillington/warpinator-iOS (beta)
Windows: https://winpinator.swisz.cz

Used it once or twice to see if it was useful, but honestly it's just easier to use scp if you're not afraid of the command line. That or use sshfs to just mount the remote filesytem to a local directory. Warpinator seems aimed at people who want a GUI above all else or are new to Linux in general. That's a lot of people, but not me.

i've used warpinator successfully on mx linux 21 which is also based on bullseye.
it's now available for other distros as a flatpak .
are you using the flatpak version? the mx developers created a .deb version so i haven't used the flatpak. are you running a firewall that might be blocking the traffic?

Me, I prefer Dukto:-

https://sourceforge.net/projects/dukto/

So it's 8 years old. So what? If used exclusively across a LAN - as it was designed to be - there's little chance of it being corrupted or infected with malware anyway. Works for me.

Tried Syncthing a few years back. Way over-complicated for what it is....and since I don't want to 'sync' files, I had no real use for it.

As for using ssh.....what, across a LAN? Really? A bit OTT, isn't it?

SSH has many benefits outside of just transferring files. Remote access, proxying network connections.

Not sure what OTT means but don't ignore powerful tools just because you don't see the value.

Don't tell me you're using telnet in 2023. I'd have to slap you with the biggest, wettest fish I can find, Monty Python style.

Thanks for the posts folks !

Long story short ....
I've been using a Mint laptop to digitize my large cd collection using freac .
My music system has a Pi 3B with a DAC HAT , but I don't want to keep unplugging the HDD
from it , just to transfer my latest batch of music .

Mint 21 came with Warpinator pre-installed and it got my attention .

I've added Flatpak / Flathub to the Pi , but it just won't run the Warpinator Flatpak

As I mentioned , I'm a long-time user of both Linux and RPi , so it's not a noob issue
but I am thinking of throwing the towel in with this one ...... which is very unusual for me !

Thanks again for the suggestions
