update error

As for the OP's problem with Mint Cinnamon 22.2's Update Manager...I've had 22.2 installed on my spare SSD for a few days and can't find anything wrong with it.

That's not to say there are no problems because others on another Forum are experiencing different problems with Kernel 6.14.0-35 that comes with this new version of Mint.

This Kernel is only supported til Feb 2026.

The 6.14 kernel was introduced for 'newer ' hardware, according to the blurb accompanying the final release.

But, if I download a 22.2 .iso, to put on a usb stick as a spot to boot to, perhaps to run Timeshift if I manage to foul up my 22.2, etc etc....the kernel that comes with it is the 6.14
Changing the kernel on a live version of Linux Mint is not for the faint hearted.....remember any changes are not saved in the Live instance.
On my spare PC, I used the grub menu to choose to boot to the 6.8 kernel instead of the 6.14. When it booted, I then opened update manager, clicked on view>>>>kernels>>>.and removed the 6.14 permanently. I think I saw @bob466 had a similar experience.

Going to the official Linuxmint.com site does not offer a choice of included kernels. Bob and I can manoeuvre around it, but anyone new to Linux would be lost.

(did all that make sense?....hope so...up since 3.00AM this morning...6PM now....my mind is beginning to sag.!)

If you go to the Mint site...they say..just open the Driver Manager and install the Driver...piece of cake.

I had to install 6.8.0-87...to get it to bloody work.

Which just happens to be the same Kernel in Mint 22.1.

People always blame Nvidia drivers but it's the Kernel but if the Graphics Card is very old well that's a different story. The Kernel above is the latest...it's enough to make me take up drinking.
