What I posted to the Ubuntu Fridge can be see here

The bit that really 'grabbed' me is

Ubuntu Cinnamon, Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Unity are still in the process of completing their fixes and testing, and might follow up on Monday.

where I'm aware that Ubuntu-MATE is all good now (I recall discussion on Ubuntu Cinnamon but as I was focused on other things I didn't pay much attention to it), and the issue with Ubuntu Unity was the inclusion of GNOME on the ISO & install (ie. seed or package change required plus lightdm issue), but there is some more oracular (24.10) BETA flavor ISOs to come....

Installed kubuntu 24.10 beta so far so good. No major bugs couple of program that would not install and run. My preferred Web browser Vivaldi .deb package will install but not run, had to install it's snap version which runs fine. Happy with it so far.

I only helped test near the start of this one.

I stopped testing and a couple of other activities as I was very close to burning out completely.

I'll resume those tasks shortly, I'm pretty sure.

Found that app-Armour blocks the use of appimages that can be fix with this command.
Code:
echo 'kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns = 0' |
  sudo tee /etc/sysctl.d/20-apparmor-donotrestrict.conf
