Trouble Shooting LaCie Rugged USB-C External Hard Drive on LINUX **Help

I just purchased a LaCie Rugged USB-C External Hard Drive and when I plug it into my lap top the device is not appearing on my desktop on their technical support website they only list Windows and Macintosh OS. Have I purchased a hard drive that is not compatible with linux? if not what can I do to configure this hard drive because their is no technical support for linux.

This is the model

LaCie Rugged USB-C 1TB
NL69S7P0

The OS doesnt seem to be recognizing the device.

I think I may have identified it by running dmesg -w however I am only a basic beginner at linux. This is what the output was look at what I put in bold from the output. If this is my external hard drive what do I do next? Thanks a lot.

If it's showing as a usb device you can run:

to identify it by name hopefully.

What does lsblk output say when the device is plugged in, and when it's unplugged?
 
I've never used this brand but all should just plug in and play...unlike windwoes which is plug in and pray.

USB storage devices should simply plug-in & work under Linux. Or at least they should show up in the system, to the extent that you can then use the standard system diagnostic tools to figure out what's going on with them.

I've never yet come across an external USB HDD/SSD that isn't detected immediately, but I guess there's a first time for everything. Perhaps I haven't run into this problem because I've always stuck with recognised industry brand-names.....

According to the Wikipedia article, LaCie have always concentrated on making above-average external computer peripherals:-

During their history, they've been bought-out several times.....the most recent being by Seagate in 2014. It's probably fair to say that currently they're using Seagate internal drives within their 'avant-garde'-design casings. Which makes it all the stranger that this particular drive is giving "issues".

My own Seagate drives have never failed to be recognised.

All I can say is...I wish all USB cables were universal...my Samsung portable 1TB SSD is...USB-A to USB-C...my 4 Western Digital portable HDDs are...USB-A to USB micro B.

Did I miss the tech wiz input? Having prob on ubuntu current, with old laCie (that has my dig.History() ) on it l.
wish to salvage before i sledgehammer the HW. laCie on Ubuntu. Help. Same issue, ubuntu current as of dayetime post && older laCie.drive :/
