Hi, I have the same card and issue as you. Since you didn't come back I assume you either fixed it and just left the rest of us hanging (joking) or you didn't find a fix.
As far as the headphone thing if you open alsamixer, you can ctl+scrollwheel back one tick and you can see most what you need. Then at the end you have Output Select set it to Headphones. Do you have audio in your HP? If not they are in the wrong port. Then select HP/Speaker Auto Detect. Unmute that.
Now regarding the sudo alsactl retore, have you stored the state at all? If not, restore has nothing TO retore. So set the audio as you want it to and store it. You will still need a manual sudo alsactl restore cmd on every login and this is where I am at.
I am trying to set up a service via systemd unit and when I get that configured I'll post it here, if it works.
