Try this approach:

I run Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3

I downloaded Mullvad browser, from the Linux Mint Software Manager ...it is a system Package, not a flatpak.

I opened it and made no changes at all...zero.

I accessed : https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/

I clicked on 'Test your browser', without making any changes there at all.

The result is below:

You can also Download from the official site:

Mullvad IS awesome. Coming across this post I wondered why did I stop running it?
Reinstalled on my brand new EndeavorOS machine. Set as default browser.
Thanks for the reminder @Condobloke .

EDIT: Guess I didn't set it as default as there is no option to do so. Went ahead of time in my comment. The sweet joys of ADHD.

In settings/General/startup....2nd line down
Mullvad Browser is not your default browser.....with a box to tick

I ticked that box many , many! times today, with no response

So I set as the preferred application to open web sites in Preferred Applications

At least that had the intended result.
