rEFInd and PopOs

I have a laptop with a PopOs sshd and a windows sshd.
When rEFInd comes up, I see windows, 2 linux, and a recovery boot. Both linux boots boot into a wierd non-graphical mode (initramfs),

in order to actually get PopOs to boot, I need to select "reboot to computer setup utility", -> "Boot Manager", -> and I see the Pop!_OS partition, and I can boot it.

how do i get my full PopOs to be a first-class entry in rEFInd?

rEFInd seems a good product, but I run 88-90 Linux distros on this rig, and the horizontal nature of rEFInd would make it a nightmare to navigate. I just use good old grub.

Rod Smith of Rod's Books is the architect of rEFInd, perhaps he may be of some assistance.

oh no. I have made a terrible mistake. I tried to install grub.
I sudo-apt get installed, did a grub-install, ran efibootmgr to get boot entries, the efibootmgr -o 00001,00004 (grub,rEFInd)

rebooted,
I get a grub> prompt, and cannot seem to get popOs to boot at all.... aaaaaaaaaa

fwsetup got me to the bios boot manager, but, PopOs is no longer amoung the list of options.....
