Question re: Linux browser apps?

So... new to Linux. Love it so far. No more windows BS.

My question was... wasn't there a program or app for Linux that let you surf internet pages text only to pull out graphics and ads? I don't know what its called. Or how well it works? (Does it crash some pages?)
