If you scroll down on the site you will get to the UK petition, here's the link for that.

Wow, I hope it gets the support needed, Maarten.

It might be time to revisit copyrights for software. If it has gone untouched for x-amount of time, it enters the public domain. People would be free to use the assets, reverse engineer the code, etc... It'd be sort of like needing to defend your trademark.

There should also be petition against not maintaining games as soon as released, e.g. selling a game full of bugs and never fixing them.

You buy a game and discover is totally uplayable, you should either get refund or game fixed.
I stopped buying games a few years ago bc I pay them to ruin games. This programmed aging was the main reason I stopped.
• ETS 2 - for nearly 2 years I played the same version with my mods without a single error, then it started CTDing and spitting all kinds of errors. With every new version modding becomes a nightmare. It's like SCS make a game that supports modding but go to bed and wake up in the morning with one single thought: how to f**k up modders and render more mods unusable. Even remaking the mods from scratch doesn't help, they still spit all kinds of errors and the game still CTDs.
• ATS - same thing.
• CarX Drift Racing Online - no modding but for a long time the game was great. Then they updated it and now it's unplayable.
• CarX Street - same thing. And it keeps getting worse and worse.

I'm sick of paying for games only to be ruined, so I stopped buying games and play them either cracked, or if Vavle gives them for free (sometimes).

As for this petition - it requires from me to give them something called "ЕГН" or "Unified citizen number" which is similar to social security number, on UCN is based on DOB + other sensitive information. So I'll pass on signing it.

Odd that it was asking for that. I didn't have to enter any form of social security number. The whole point of the petition is to bring awareness to the EU and hopefully get laws updated for the improvement of consumer rights for games as now games are sold as products but in reality a lease which are two different things. When the servers go down you lose access to the product you paid for.

There are still Indy game developers and GOG games, haven't tried GOG games. But I'm hopeful that with this movement rights for digital products will improve for consumers.
