If you've on the forums regularly, then you might have glanced at a topic about me building a whooper of a PC once every 12 years.
For those that aren't, long story short - coming up on 12 years now, and my old Xeon 1241v3 GTX 980 is reaching the end of it's service, it simply cannot perform anymore even if it is as healthy as the day as I first build it. There is an exception with the top of the line performance rule I made upon myself - because I became disgusted by Nvidia's anti-consumer conduct, I will instead go for an AMD gpu, and will most likely replace at least once during the decade of expected service life. The reason for that is that I have noticed a concerning trend that the VRAM requirement of latest games appears to be increasing exponentially.
Well, I got the parts list pretty much nailed down:
All totaling 2455€ as of the day I made this post. The whole thing will be run by Linux of course. That is a decision I made a long time ago, but recent turns of events have suggested that Linux is now superior in many cases in terms of frame time consistencies and performance, but I digress. I will have to order the parts abroad AGAIN, as the retailer looks at you as if you asked him to sell you your child to be sacrificed in a dark ritual for any configuration that goes above 1500€. Still, ordering from Germany will give me a sense of peace and quality as to the parts I will receive from them.
Last time I had concerns about the lighting within the system, whereas my research got that ironed out to the point I am now sure that all the light will be able to be controlled using SignalRGB within Linux itself.
There is one Teeny tiny bit I am still unsure of. The CPU cooler is basically a giant block of aluminum and heat pipes. The motherboard has some pretty tall pcb cooling configurations, I am concerned that the cooler won't fit inside all of that. I am contemplating using a 420mm AIO with a graphene pad for ease of removal, but the lifespan of an AIO isn't nearly as much said block of aluminum. Because, as I mentioned, I will be ordering from what is basically 2 countries over, and if it won't go in, I might have to send it back 2 countries over.
Other than that, I believe this is going to be a silent beast that is going to mulch everything I throw at it!
