Hi,

I downloaded Mint Cinammon iso then extracted it to new 8 gb USB drive,
tried to boot but I got a black screen as follows:
SysLinux 4.07 edd 2013-07-25 Copyright 1994-2013 Peter Anvin et al
no default or ui Configuration directive found
boot:

I am able to type things after the 'boot:' but don't know Linux commands.
I think they was a blinking underscore cursor after the 'boot:' too.

I did notice the following upon extraction to 8 gb usb drive:
1.Data error in 'disk\casper-uuid-generic'. File is broken
2. Data error in 'disk\cd_type'. File is broken
Data error in 'disk\'info'. File is broken
Data error in 'disk\'live-vivid-generic'. File is broken
Data error in 'disk\release_notes_url'. File is broken

Last 40% of the Mint mirror iso download went real slower than the first 60%.
I was using my VPN too for the download.

Thinkpad X31, XP sp3,
Bios adjusted for usb boot

Thank you in advance.

Is there a command I need to tpye in after 'boot:'? Should I download Mint again?
I'm curious to know why that happened.

Is some one able to give me some help with this please?

I reported chimichurri's link days ago, why havent staff looked into it?

Did you verify the checksum after download and again when it was replicated to the secondary storage to verify that your installation was intact?

You haven't even reached the installation phase, so this really appears to be a boot [specifically ISO image] issue.

[I will say that I have no experience with the tool you used to prepare your ISO for use on the USB device. I've mostly used Unetbootin because it works for me but I am sure there are better tools available.]

Thanks JDG.

Anyone know how to verify the checksum download with Universal USB installer 1.9.5.2 ?
Thanks in advance.

Md5sum works fine for integrity check.

In case everything else fails...
LiLi used to make me decent bootable usb drives. I have used it to write Mint iso files into flash sticks myself. Always worked. Give it a try.
