According to distro they changed their bluetooth manager to blueman, i was having trouble with the bluetooth which is why i switched over to Ubuntu.

When members complain of various issues etc etc it is more than possible that the answer may be already sorted out for you.
 
A few minutes left until my install of Linux Mint 21.0 'Vanessa' Cinnamon completes, and I have the Xfce to follow later.

No issues so far - I am using AMD Radeon, not nVidia.

I'll report back a little later on how it runs.

Upgrade Tool for Existing Users​

Existing Mint 20.3 users can easily update their system using the new GUI-based upgrade tool.

Users will be shown a list of new packages to be installed/upgraded. This also includes a check for third-party PPA repositories which you may have added manually.

Encountered no problems with the install, nor any so far with the running session.

Clean install, not an upgrade.

I feel that those responsible for the introduction/release of the new version of Linux Mint, LM21, do it a huge disservice by not introducing the advertised means of upgrading from 20.3, at the same time

It gives the impression of an organisation who could not care less about current users......and are in no hurry to bring them up to date, along with the remainder of the Linux population

The blurb at the Linux Mint blog says :
  • Upgrade instructions for Linux Mint 20.3 will be provided shortly.
shortly...... that word appears to carry the same import as the Australian phrase "in a bit"....which can mean any length of time varying from 5 minutes to as many months.

Slack, Linux Mint....Slack. Unacceptable in 2022.

When something is free how can ya complain and if you do donate and are unhappy than stop donating.

And besides they probably don't give a crap.
 
I would assume you can still just do a "dist-upgrade" from the command-line with any of the Ubuntu based distributions?
 
I never have understood why anyone who has a perfectly good working Linux distro version would want to upgrade the nest point release.

In Ubuntu when the next point release is released all of the fixes and new stuff come in an update.

I was using Ubuntu 22.04 and now via the update manger I'm using Ubuntu 22.04.1 and all I did was run the update manager.

OOTB Ubuntu is the best imo.
 
Yes minor versions upgrades are usually installed through the normal upgrade process. Going from one major version to the next usually requires an upgrade process using something like dist-upgrade or do-release-upgrade or a gui tool to upgrade. Or that's how I remember it last time I did it for Ubuntu.

With mint you need to change the repositories to the new Addresses to do the upgrade. They try to let the smoke settle so to speak from the final release and a few days later give instruction on the upgrade procedure. With Mint 21 there will be a new upgrade tool also.

It all depends on your hardware. I think it would be worthwhile.
You should be able to upgrade from 20 to 21 in a few days.
I usually prefer to backup my important data and do a fresh clean install to a new major version. But many report the upgrade works well for them. In any event upgrade instructions will be coming out in the next few days. Should you choose that route.
