The link to the new WP Linux Fixes works now.
Fixes for the Linux operating systems
linuxfixes55.wordpress.com
The site needs more work in the editor and that will come as I learn more.WP changed the editor.
Feel free to give thoughts or ideas that I could add/modify. Also, if you have the time: say what topics you'd like to read about concerning Linux.
Thanks for your support.
I got a hosted WP package with the promise of 'easy' -- and I believed it because WP used to be easy ("used to be" be the operative phrase)... I'd been away from WP for a long time. That new editor you speak of is infuriating, as is the entire process.
So all I can say is even though it's still WIP, you got more stuff done in two weeks than I have in five months! Heck I spent about two months looking for an OOTB theme that was still customizable coz Twenty Twenty-Five looked cumbersome (just too many objects on that template), but I see you slimmed that mess down yourself so double congrats. Looking forward to the final product, Alex.
Since you mentioned ideas...
On design ideas, I'd say maybe try for less padding (I think it's a padding element) for the desktop view, maybe a small grid of recent articles? Sounds a bit generic, so feel free to take my aesthetic opinions it with a grain of salt coz I'm kinda old school. TBH, it's content that matters and you've plenty of that!
On posts ideas, maybe you could delve into "How to do <Windows Softwares Thing>"
processes, where you could link articles you've already done on Linux software -- helps SEO apparently -- because I'm pretty sure a lot of users find it harder to give up Windows software than Windows as an OS, and they get bogged down because they need to replace tool chains, not just tools, so that'd be very handy. A lot of "production" requires multiple softwares from Point A to B.
Oh, and a very useful article I'd link to is a full, but concise, breakdown explaining to newcomers that there is no "Linux GUI" (the old chestnut) etc. I know there's the rather dated, but still relevant, "Linux is not Windows", but I think it misses a lot for the average Windows refugee and it's not a fun read unless you're already a Linux user. The thinking of OS as a unit rather than a sum of parts is very ingrained in most people -- I'm sure you've seen the many "Linux developerz iz lazy cuz i can't click this or the box ain't there" threads.
Anyway, there's my 2c. Keep it up!
