is it possible that my memory is leaking a bit with KDE plasma's desktop?

ive noticed that over time, it takes more time to successfully alt-tab, with a small stutter that grows in severity over time
i am on KDE plasma 6.3.6 with kernel 6.12.74+deb13+1-amd64 (64-bit)

it's admittedly not the worst thing in the world; i just have to restart my laptop which isn't a tall ask, but i'd love a little bit of enlightenment regardless
 


Hmmm. Good question! There are sysmonitor tools that I use that are built in. If you observe it through there, probably. I have noticed something similar in my install sometimes after having stuff open for a while. In a way, like a poor man's coney that sits in my upper bar.

okay, so it's not swapping to disk, and also RAM is not even full. So it's not that.

Does the mouse pointer stutter too?

i think the entire thing freezes for a sec when it happens
it's not happening right now so i'll need to verify that when it starts doing it again

Yes, I also had something very similar with the same version of KDE and kernel - especially after sleep the problem became much more noticeable. The system seemed to not fully wake up, and some processes or the interface behaved unstable until you restart the session or display server.
 
Open the terminal and copy and paste this command and see if you are running Wayland or X11.

Code: 
echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

If running Wayland switch to X11 and see if that makes a difference.

Wayland can be problematic with some graphics adapters / cards / processor graphics / APUs.

I don't use KDE Plasma so I have no idea how to switch from Wayland to X11.

i was in wayland but i am switching over to x11 in a sec, as wayland has been causing me a lot of issues
