i3wm strange right border color behaviour

Hello guys,

I'm not sure if the title is descriptive enough, it was the only thing I could come up with.
I will try to explain the issue to see if someone familiar with i3wm can help me out.

Currently, I have i3 configured so that when a window is active, it shows borders that are 2 pixels thick and colored #54B0B0 (kinda turquoise).

In the first picture, we can see that it works well when two or more windows are open. The terminal on the right is the active one. The color is correct.

However, when there's only one window active in the workspace, for some reason the right border is a different color — more of a blue. Hope it is clear enough in the screenshot.

Why is this happening? Is it a bug or did I mess something up in the config file?

It's probably the "indicator" colour to show a new window will open to the right, see the example in https://i3wm.org/docs/userguide.html#client_colors

Wow! that's cool and now I know what it means maybe I will keep it that way, I had no idea!
