HELP! I sort of messed up...

Mine is 2012.

Should the battery be removed?

If its a laptop, just disconnect the external power supply and any usb ot Ethernet cables power up the machine [give it a couple of minutes] then press and hold the power button down for 60 seconds re connect everything and switch on

I've tried, unless I'm doing something wrong here it isn't working.

did you disconnect the power supply? and all usb & other cables, first. it worked on some [but not all] older machines.

then switch on and wait a minute or so, then press and hold the power button down [oh this won't work if your battery is shot

So far no change. The battery is okay.
