Doomed but not giving up!

OK Jane.. we are going round in circles, so 3 questions
1 is it not possible for you to connect to the router by wire
2 do you have a data mobile [apple or Android] you can tether [connect by USB to computer]
3] failing all above, do you have a friend/family member close by who may have an old USB Wi-Fi dongle you can borrow to connect to the internet.

Hi Guys
Guess what?? Going bush seemed to clear my head. Came back and did more research and I'm happy to report that I'm typing this on my old Macbook Air 2015 which is now running Linux Mint LMDE 6 after finding a solution on another forum that suggested that LMDE 6 would install the needed driver and my WiFi would work on install.
And guess what? It did!
Truly a happy camper and looking forward to enjoying many years of Linux-ing.
