This morning my onn monitor quit working. i tried a dell i use with a raspberry pi. it worked But it has moving white lines running diagonally left and right. Reminds me of tv static. i have tried another monitor (hp) different resolutions, cables, gpu
and throwing four letter words at it but nothing helped.
The first is a screenshot and the 2ed is a photo.

Hello Hillbilly H. Here is what I gather so far:

GPU is NVIDIA GK104 [GeForce GTX 690]
Dell monitor produced moving white lines, like TV static
HP monitor also produced faulty display.

Here are some queries:

Did the HP monitor produce the same faultiness as the Dell monitor?
What driver are you using for the GPU? This will tell:
Code:
lspci -nnk |grep -A3 -i vga

What kernel is in use? (Some have graphical issues).
Code:
uname -a
What is the default resolution of the monitor that works with white lines?
Code:
xrandr
What resolutions did you try?
How did you configure the resolutions to change them?

Did you try a different GPU, which had the same faulty display?
If so, what was that GPU?

I've had a similar sounding problem before, using the nouveau driver, I was able to resolve it with some X configuration, but I don't know if that will help in your specific case, hence the queries.

Onn monitor is dead, HP monitor must work fine
Yes the onn is dead "black screen" and hp and the dell works.
Did the HP monitor produce the same faultiness as the Dell monitor?
Yes. Both the hp and dell have white lines.
What driver are you using for the GPU? This will tell:
