LibreOffice has a wizard that will convert a bunch of Word files over to LibreOffice Writer. My Word files are in the old *.doc format. No problem. It converted them all over. However, they did not retain the same date and time as the original documents. That's a problem. These are archival documents that I'm no longer working on. One thought is I could just hang on to the original documents. LibreOffice will probably support *.doc for quite some time.
However, if I do go with conversion, I could do one of two things:
1. Find a utility that will let me change the date and time of the new files.
2. Find a different conversion utility that will convert from *.doc to *.odt while keeping the original date and time.
