Change distros or just rename...

Well it's time for the old "ear taping". Her ears probably would have come up all on their own but why take a chance?

One has to balance the possible tragedy of "earectile dysfunction" against the risk of introduction of....

(... wait for it... )

"tape worms". (Oooh, Im g'na have to inflict that upon the facebook corgi nerds, too!)

Well, after about two weeks, we took that silly lookin tape off of her ears and, lo and behold, she's looking presentable.

But, in the mean time, I dropped my phone and broke the screen so I picked up a new one and decided to update the home-screen wall paper.

Apparently, little Georgie hasn't quite grasped the finer points of mooching treats yet (but she's gettin there).

After another three weeks, she's almost half the size (weight) of her mom. (this pic is already over a week old)

Georgie's spare hooman just sent me a picture one of the other "dog show geeks" took for her. (DSGs (not to be confused with "GSDs", which actually -are- dogs) are like linux geeks but with dogs instead of tech.)

This is Georgies's "good side" for today - the other side probably still has something disgusting in her fur from this morning.

It turns out Georgie had got stung by a yellow jacket on the inside of her lip an hour or so before this pic was taken, so it's a bit swollen and it makes her face look kind of masculine. The less observant folks on r/corgi keep referring to "she/her" as "he/him" despite the glaring lack of visible male parts. Sign of the times, I guess.

A frame grab from my new, "I'm gonna -get- ya" video. Dollar's much easier to get going, while Georgie takes a few seconds - which means it's almost impossible to get just Georgie to play unless Dollar is confined elsewhere.

Georgie’s rocking that “I just got stung by a bee” look! Even with a swollen lip, she’s still the star of the show.

She has to wait for the real "star of the show" opportunity. The next show with a "puppy" class is this Saturday... and she'll be -one day- too young to enter.

In the latest pic, I think she has a credible "bad ass" look - although that's easy when mom's between her and the big bad hooman. It doesn't show up well in the still pic, but there's a big bark on those little lips to go with the "big dog" swagger.

For Halloween, Georgie's dressing up to look like her mom, which isn't particularly scary, I guess.

Georgie is six months old and weighs 25 pounds so I guess I don't have to worry about her turning out to be a dwarf. No, wait... never mind that last part.

I think I'm supposed to feel honored that I'm (sometimes) her preferred chew toy.

Miss Georgie finally has an "official" name now: "Airdie Hey There Georgie Girl" with "Airdrie" being the kennel name. I couldn't convince the spare hooman to use "Corgie Girl" but I guess that's ok. Had to get th AKC registration in because the S.H. wanted to enter her in a show in early March.

that's one mighty cute pupper

Thanks. She's cute enough that if I weren't so tough and heartless, she'd be spoiled rotten. Wouldn't want that to happen.

While she hasn't been in any actual shows yet (her first one is coming up March 1) the general consensus is that she is also a very pretty pup (and conforms decently to the AKC standard). We'll see what happens in about three weeks. Some of the competition will be one or two of her cousins (from the multi-puppy pic further up this thread) so it will be extra fun to see the results. (They're not really cousins, unless maybe very distant ones).

Also, she's no longer the giant that she was at birth - she's normalized, size-wise, maybe even a bit on the small side, though it's hard to be sure at this age.

Her face says it all...in capitals!...."I am spoiled rotten by my hooman"

Big new: We might be getting another Cardigan puppy. The litter is only about a month old now, and about 600 miles away, so I only have some very early photos to go by but the spare hooman is the expert on these things anyway so it's really her gig. My job will just be to spoil it rotten and make sure Georgie doesn't pull all the fur out of its tail (like she tries to do to the Chihuahua (and he freakin' -lets- her!)).

600 miles in Canada is probably like about 60 miles in Pennsylvania - we pack our potholes much more densely.

Now that you mention it, I've had this car for almost three years and have yet to take a -real- road trip in it...
Oh wait - that's because I don't have the money for that sort of thing.

Pittsburgh to some place in Wisconsin seems like it wouldn't be too bad of a drive.

Well, no updates on the new puppy and no pics until we know for sure which one we're getting - and that's still even -if- we get one. But I got a nice new pic of the girls. It -looks- like they're enjoying some together time but really that's just where Georgie retreated to when she though I was reaching for her tail. I can't imagine what would have given her that idea.

So last night at midnight, I went to my favorite flash game web site to play the nightly new map of a dumb game that I play almost every night... and OMG, the site was down! I could ping the server but it wasn't serving up any web pages.

So, reclaiming that half hour that I would otherwise have wasted, I wasted it otherwise. I decided to rectify a glaring lack in my OS - a critical utility that for whatever reason (or perhaps for no reason at all) doesn't appear in the Tiny Core software repository. A little googling and I found the utility in an RPM package somewhere (Tiny Core doesn't natively know about RPMs, but it -does- know about file-roller so, fine. I extracted the utility (it's a perl script), took care of its dependencies, tried it out... and realized I was going to have to do a little customizing to have it really fit my preferences. After an hour or so of messing with it, my system is now much more complete. Here's the final result:

Well Georgie made her first show appearance today (Saturday, I guess that's yesterday now). She took second place in her age group (*).

(*) There were, in fact, only two Cardigans in her age group. ;)
