cant install Arch

To begin with, I can't even boot into the live CD. I have Arch on a bootable usb drive, and when I boot into it as UEFI I get a very bare screen with the option to boot into the CD. And when I boot into the usb drive as USB I get a little fancyer screen with the Arch symbo. On it and the same options as before. In both cases, when I attempt to load into the live CD, it shows a few lines of text, then blank screen and my monitors go to sleep.

As far as I know Arch does not have a LiveCD. Exactly what disk do you have and where from.

With Arch, which is not suitable for the average newbie, you need to build your own customised system. There are various videos showing the process on Youtube. Google something like: youtube how to install arch linux.

One alternative is to use Evo/Lution Linux which is supposed to make the installation of Arch simpler. http://www.evolutionlinux.com/

Another is to use one of the Arch-based distros: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_based_distributions_(active) ...some are "truer" to Arch than others

Arch has a Live CD..no GUI but it is a live disk; the ArchISO. When you boot the ArchISO it takes you to a terminal which I think is the line of text referred to by the OP.

@ryanvade I think I might have to redefine what a LiveCD is...

Ubuntu used to have the LiveCD (LiveCD +install) and the Alternative (Install only) . Arch boots to the Terminal? Is that truly a LiveCD? Urm...

There is a complete system that can be used directly from the CD. I would define that as a live cd. The Windows install disk, for example, does not have a live system because you can only install with it.

In either case, I found what my issue is. I have the monitor connected to my GTX 970 and it didn't have the driver installed.
