Just want to report that I built a junkyard dog of a PC mini-tower using a mix of discarded and newly-purchased parts - my first such project since the 1990s - and when it was time to apply power and install an OS, I used my Mint 22.3 thumb drive. I violated a number of tech ethics, including sheet-metal screws to attach the CPU heat sink and plumber's tape to make brackets so I could use a laptop SSD hard drive. Everything came up and worked, despite having a few settings wrong that caused it to take a long time to boot. So once again, I love Linux!
The device name is, of course, "Frankenstein," or "Frank" for short.
