ASUS EeePC wireless problem

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post here as I've just installed my first Linux distro, LXLE, on an ASUS EeePC 1025C. The install went well but I am unable to turn on the wireless card now. There is a 'Fn F2' hotkey that worked to turn this service on and off when using Win7 but it seems to no longer work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jay

with more poking around on the web, I came across a video turning wireless on and off from the command line.

I tried the following command - sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
and received the following message

SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-KILL

Does that help at all????

Again,
Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I've saved the askubuntu com link for the future!

After running through those options, I've discovered:
1. The Fn-F2 combination DOES turn the soft block on and off, as it should.
2. rfkill unblock wifi will also turn off the soft block

However, after using the FN-F2 key combination, I get the following response to rfkill list

0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes
1: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no

This seems to be progressing but there must be a hardware switch I am not familiar with.

Is there a command to turn off the hard block using the MAC address?

Problem SOLVED!

More searching led to the suggestion of resetting the BIOS following an OS change. I reloaded the defaults and VOILA!, it works just fine. The FNF2 turns the wifi on and off, as confirmed by RFKILL.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm learning quickly. Now I'm off to fix the next headache...
