Good Things Happen to Good People

Wow! I just can't believe the turn of events in less than 24 hours. Seriously, I'm blown away. I'm shocked.

On,Thursday I went to court for an eviction hearing. The night before after looking closer and doing a little math, I realized I've actually overpaid my rent by three months. I had a verbal lease with an honorable man. He passed in January, his records were difficult to understand and I got evicted anyway. There's a lot more to this part and doesn't need to be repeated. I had four days to get out and $54 to my name. Financial help is the last thing I ever want to ask for. My out of state friends and I just haven't been able to come up with enough to get me out of here yet. Last night, the street was a very real possibility for me.

I started a GoFundMe page last night. In less than 13 hours, 3 people I don't even know have given me $4,980.00, that's $2,000 more than I need to move. I'm totally blown away.

I've often thought that points shouldn't be added if it's off-topic, but it's all good. Congrats on the trophy!

I think I told you I talk so much I can carry on both sides of the conversion with anyone and they don't even have to present for it to happen.

At least I don't reply in threads for them too.

There's nothing wrong with talking to yourself. Oftentimes, this is the best way to have an intelligent discussion!

I am so glad for you. This is the best news I've heard in a longish time.

Just letting everyone know about this.

In order to actually get me out of this house, my landlord has one more thing he has to do. Before he can do that, he has to wait to find out what I do. It would cost him more money and time.

If I'm still not gone the day after my 5 days, he has to spend a couple of hundred dollars to file a "Writ of Possession" with the court. He has to wait another day after that before anyone shows up to force me out.

Basically, he can't force me to leave until April Fools Day.

I can't help but see the humor in that.
If I wanted to, I could play a joke on him that would cost him a lot of money!

Or, it could backfire and incur some sort of contempt of court, with a fine.

Glad to see things are looking up. You've got your desktop working and have the funds to move so it's looking up. Let us know when you get moved.

That's why I said "If"

I'm doing the right thing before I leave too. I can't in good conscience leave without letting him know about the serious problems with this house. I finished 3 pages of notes for about the electrical problems alone. There are 3 other major issues he also needs to know about. All safety related too.

They think this house is the best one they have. I think they'll be rethinking that. I'm leaving a link to PDF if anyone cares to look at the nightmare he doesn't know about.
