File system error (?)

Regardless of your AC power setup, please get a UPS to back up your PC. You are asking for trouble if intermittent power problems are frequent occurrence. UPS will solve most if not all of your problems.
if I could, I would. Living offgrid and off of whatever I can scavenge or already have out here. No job, money, income, transportation, mail, nada. Just me against the elements.

I use old car batteries and whatever other kinds of batteries are available. When the battery bank is too weak, especially if the solar array is small, the system will crash. When lead acid batteries have more draw on them than their capacity allows, the voltage drops precipitously, and at that point the solar cannot make up the difference needed. That is just a fact of life when dealing with these kinds of make-do systems. Fuses? Who needs them when there is no possible way to draw enough current to trip them.
I see. So, it seems that you have identified the source of your data integrity problems yourself. With no grid power, but weak car batteries and some random solar panels instead, your setup is prone to brown-outs and power cuts. Until you solve these, you won't have stable data storage and computing.
Good luck with fixing it.

It's your choice, of course.

In such case, I think you you should use laptop only. No power hungry PC. Sell it.

Maybe even a tablet only instead of a laptop.
