I've been trying multiple distros for the past month or so and I've never had the problems I'm having with Mint installing my printer. I've tried Zorin OS, MXLinux, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Kbuntu. I didn't have any issues with my printer being recognized on any of them but Mint refuses to recognize it no matter what I do. All I get are CUPS error msgs everytime I try to install the printer. Even IPP Everywhere doesn't work even though it claims to have drivers for the printer. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I'd really appreciate it. Here is what I have on my computer. It's an 11 yrs old Dell XPS 8900 with a 2 TB HDD and 48 gigs of DDR4 ram. It was my work computer until I retired.

Welcome to the Forum.

I have an Epson XP-2205 printer/scanner which is 3 years old and I'm running Mint Cinnamon 22.1.
The first thing I do is download and install the Drivers...then I plug in the printer to the USB port.

Mint will see the printer and install it...you'll also see the printer icon on the panel...if you type print in the search box...you'll see this...

My scanner also works...

Hope this helps.

What you have to do is when the page is open in Firefox click on Edit and Select All the entire web page should highlight now just click on File and Save Page As - the name should appear - something like epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2_1.2.38-1_amd64.deb - once saved - you can install it with GDEBI

@lnman :-

Never seen that from the Epson site before!

When I've selected model, OS, architecture and language, I hit the 'Proceed to download' button. I then get the license agreement page - you click a checkbox to say you agree to the conditions.....and then the 'Download' button 'lights up'.

Seconds later, it's in my Downloads directory....

I don't use FF, though. With me, it's always one of the Chromium 'clones'...

@GatorsFan :- You say you've seen this before?

Mike. ;)

yepper I have - think is has something to do with Firefox and how it handles some downloads while others are fine - some are designed for Chromium specifically

I decided to use a usb cable since mint refuses to cooperate with wifi. I can print everything now. Thank you to everyone who tried to help.

Good!

My printers are hard wired to our LAN's multi-port hub with CAT-5 cable, FYI.

I tried using Chromium and I was able to download the file with no problem. It's definately a FF thing.
