I worked on a great many robots that ran OS/2. It was sometimes "Challenging" to get them to communicate on a Windows network. Then the manufacturers all went to Win xp and up. The interesting thing is that all the modules in those newer machines all spoke Linux over their internal networks. Most of my students had never experienced Linux, so I made sure to introduce them to the module software from the command line. I wrote step by step procedures for any modifications needed so they would not screw it up.
