I need to use a zip utility for use on Mint. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Open 'Software manager, (via menu)
type in zip
Single left click on any of them will show you what you will get. The recommendations will be usually quite accurate
The first in the list would be my choice. Have a look. If you dont like one you have clicked install on....simply Uninstall it.
