Nice! I didn't know that, but would take xfce over gnome 3 any day. I have that now as my GUI of choice with Arch

FreeBSD has been forgotten again....

FreeBSD feels like it has potential to me, but doesn't seem to have a convenient way to manage Wifi on Netbooks or Laptops.

I would seriously consider it for a Desktop though.

I'm sure that network manager has been ported by PC-BSD.

Failing that you can set up connections using wpasupplicant or use wpa_gui

There is also net-mgmt/wifimgr in the ports tree (never used it so no idea, in fact I might give it a spin when I have time)

//edit: wifimgr looks useful, looks like a simple front end for setting up multiple profiles with wpasupplicant

Snowlinux, Bodhi or Manjaro, in case you enjoy lightweight distributions but can't give up a handful of eye candy. Vector or Lubuntu for a more minimalist approach. I prefer to build my own distro from minimal installs, preventing pre-loaded junk from bloating the system, and it's also very practical to load the latest kernel.

My distro of choice is OpenSuSE. YAST makes my life easier and I like stuff that makes life easier.

I can't believe that there are still four people who voted for Windows! I use Windows sometimes, but I generally think Linux is much better. I use Arch Linux, which can be a fun distribution for Linux-familiar users, even though I started using it when I was a beginner. Linux is what I use the most, and it always will be!
