| webcam stops working Hello, My webcam stops working after working a brief moment . Before I start cheese ls -l /dev/video0 crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 Mar 2 11:04 dev/video0 and after it runs around 20 seconds or so ls -l /dev/video0 ls: cannot access '/dev/video0': No such file or directory. But, '/dev/video0' reappears maybe 10 or so minutes after closing cheese. Below is some system info ls -ld /sys/class/video4linux/video0/device/driver lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Mar 3 10:19 /sys/class/video4linux/video0/device/driver -> ../../../../../../bus/usb/drivers/uvcvideo When I run dmesg -w I can see my webcam disconnect. Note the messages before the disconnect are right after dev/video0 is back just before restarting cheese and the disconnect is cheese running briefly. It's a build-in webcam and it used to work but I don't know when it stopped working. It might have been broken when I recently installed Microsoft Teams which uses both the webcam and mic and I decided to uninstall it because Chrome seemed to work fine with no install needed for ms teams. So that uninstall could have broken the webcam but then again I haven't used to for about a year so I don't know for sure. And I didn't mention it but it seems my microphone is also broken but I figured I would tackle one thing at a time but I think the uninstall of ms teams may have broke that as well. Anyone have any ideas? Should I try reinstall default webcam and mic drivers? Thanks! |
