Total Newbie!

Hello, total newbie to all this Linux but rapidly becoming a convert. Always thought it out of my comfort zone before. Have Ubuntu 12.04 on a pretty new laptop following Windoze 7 issues and thought WOW, THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!

Planning it on a netbook too I've just been given sans hard disc.

Trying at the mo to load on a mates old, very low spec pc but running into trouble as to which distro etc.

I'll be posting for HELP all too soon!
