Hello,

We have a laptop stored in a safe running MINT Linux. The hard drive is encrypted, and the password is securely stored in the head of XYZ. The laptop is only taken out when in use, and the plan is to physically remove the network card.

We are looking for guidance on:

  1. How to download and install a standard word processor along with language packages.
  2. How to remove all network drivers.

You might wonder why such a level of security is necessary. Here is a brief background:

Our work is futuristic and forward-looking, containing sensitive information and materials that we need to protect. When we write and explain different models that show how one can predict future scenarios at a kitchen table—before we publish them publicly—we take the following precautions:

  • We save the text as a file from the computer’s word processor.
  • We record audio in the background using a radio frequency loop that repeats time, date, and year.
  • Each session is stored on a military-grade encrypted USB, placed inside a sealed letter with a wax seal.
  • Everything is vacuum-sealed.
  • A SHA-256 checksum is added for all files.

This ensures that if anyone claims authorship or prior knowledge of the information we eventually release publicly, they cannot override our evidence without honest intent. These works are stored in a bank safe.

We hope to receive practical guidance on the installation of the word processor and removal of network drivers as described.

Thank you in advance for any help!

@Vaelira

Just in case of any misapprehension on your part, we are not an official arm nor organ of Linux, just scored the dot org name - we are manned by volunteer staff who share a love of Linux and have varying skills in various departments.

Although we have a small number of IT professionals within our ranks, I am not aware of anyone who could provide the level of security you seem to require.

Your interests would likely be best served by engaging IT Security professionals to meet your needs.

Good luck.

I am locking this thread.
