My daughter changed a USB drive to lunix before removing all of her FAT32 JPG files. Is there any way to recover?

yep photorec will do it; had to do it a couple of weeks ago. its important you don't do anything else to that stick. photorec is actually part of testdisk. you should be able to get it as a package from your linux's disro repo.i.e install tesdisk and photorec will be avaialble

for my slackware i get from here: https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/system/testdisk/?search=testdisk but i have debian based live OS and i'm sure i got that via apt .

my output:

bash-5.0$ photorec --version
PhotoRec 7.0, Data Recovery Utility, April 2015

this is the screen you will be presented with :

up and down arrows to select what you are working on. hit return follow instructions . it will say log , where you you want files to go . you might have to dig into dir to find the files you want
