Hi all :)

I'm tired of all the spyware in our phones and PCs (which stands for "Prying Computer" because there's nothing "Personal" about them anymore) so I would like to take back my freedom. To that end, I want to install Ubuntu, and I'm also looking for a spyware free phone.

I have a few questions I was hoping someone might be able to help me with:

1. Does Amazon's Audible book service work on Linux, and specifically, on Linux phones? This is an essential requirement for me.

2. I'm currently looking at buying the Jolla C2 Community Linux phone in Europe (I'm in the UK), and I'm also interested in the braxa phones. Would either be a good choice?

Thank you very much in advance, for any help offered. It's appreciated.

Always thought PC stands for "Prissy Crackpot"...

As for phones and stuff, the advice is always to DuckDuck go and read, read, read.

By the way:

I guess Linux might provide better protection than Windows.

Edit: Did anyone alter my comment? I'm sure it's not like I wrote it, and parts are missing.
Do not get me wrong, this is your site and I respect your rules, but if I screw up and write something that is forbidden, just tell me - chances are I will comply. Don't just go and change what I wrote.

Check with your phone provider that it will be compatible

Does Amazon's Audible book service work on Linux,
for desktop/laptop you will need
A stable Linux distribution [Ubuntu/MintLMDE/Mint22 (yes they are different)/Debian stable with driver pack/any other stable distribution you like and works on your machine.]
A stable internet connection.
An Amazon account.
Wine/Bottles compatibility layer to install the windows Kindle app to.

Simples.....

In all honesty, I'll very probably not put a sim card into the Linux phone. Don't even want a phone anymore. I'd be using it as an mp3/audible player for when I go on my walks.

Thanks all for the info, very helpful.

90% of mobile phones will not work without a sim card
Are you referring to 90% of Linux phones? I only ask because I took my sim card out of my Samsung and it works fine (as an audio/mp3 players).

I had a small Samsung Galaxy which I used as a dashcam, it would not work without a sim card, my old I phone and the wife's new android phone both need/needed sim cards to work.

I dont have one now, and the wife's is only switched on when away from home or during power cuts [our landline is voip]
