problem about the connection between windows XP and virtual machine linux

    XP+centos 4.8 (vmware),connection mode:bridge,
    the configuration of linux are:
    1./etc/hosts:
    172.18.71.123 linux.jdf.cq localhost.localdomain localhost
    2./etc/resolv.conf:
    nameserver 202.202.32.33 202.202.32.34
    3./etc/sysconfig/network:
    NETWORKING=yes
    hostname=linux.jdf.cq
    4./etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:
    DEVICE=eth0
    ONBOOT=yes
    BOOTPROTO=static
    IPADDR=172.18.71.123
    NETMASK=255.255.252.0
    GATEWAY=172.18.68.1

    the problem i met is : i can ping linux thought XP,but not thought linux.
    (IP of the host(windows XP):172.18.71.26,netmask:255.255.252.0,gateway:172.18.68.1)
