I'm new to Linux and I am extremely confused as to what I'm doing. I want to learn about hacking and was told I could get help here. Any tips or advice or anything will help. Where do I even begin?

1. Hacking as in learning about computers and pushing the boundaries on the things around me. Freedom to learn and whatnot.
2. What's a "distro"?
Thank you for helping me get started, I was really confused!

A "distro" is short for "distribution" --like a "brand name" Ubuntu is one, Fedora is another.

You might be better to start with a "distro" which is for beginners like Ubuntu or Zorin.

Look at things like:

...an oldie, but a goodie:

RoboLinux is another targeting new linux users. It is made to look similar to windows, is very fast running xfce desktop environment. There is also a gnome desktop environment. I recommend xfce as it will look more familiar coming from a windows background. They are both very nice.
