I had to reinstall Ubuntu. Now I cannot connect to the internet. I had Ethernet connection before. I am using Ubuntu 18.04 on a virtual machine. I used hyperv on windows 10. Everything seems to be working okay otherwise. Any ideas.

Any ideas.

G'day James - more rather, do we have any idea what you are up to currently? :D

Last we met 3 - 4 weeks ago, you had an Ubuntu burned (maybe) onto a DVD and were headed for install.

Did that come about, and what were the outcomes?

Currently, you have

My highlighting, so that those whom have helped before notice a difference.

Which VM James? Is it VirtualBox, VMware or other?

We will have some more questions to ask in the above regard.

If you can also give us the output of the following command from Terminal

Code:
inxi -Fxz

... that would be very useful.

Cheers

Thanks for your reply. I finally was able to connect to the internet after multiple restarts. Not really sure why I had so much trouble. I used windows hyper v for the virtual machine. To answer your other questions, it took a while but I finally was able to download Ubuntu 18.04. For some reason it seemed to stop functioning and I started getting multiple error messages. I reloaded it and now am back to baseline. Thanks for your attention.

That's good to hear, James, but before you "run away", can we just clarify, for future reference -

  1. The virtual machine is being purely sourced through Windows 10, and that is Hyper-V.
  2. There is no VirtualBox or VMware involved.
  3. There is no other instance of Ubuntu, now, on your rig. Ubuntu is being sourced purely through Windows.
If the above points are true please say so, or correct me where I am wrong.

Reason I am persisting with this is because if you want to get a better representation of how Ubuntu can perform, rather than with just the amount of RAM you have allocated to it under Hyper-V, then a simple solution is
